Häusl am Stein (The House on the Rock)

In St. Pankraz, below Bad Lad in the valley bottom, you will find what is one of the strangest natural monuments in the Ulten Valley, the "Häusl am Stein" or "House on the Rock". Until 1882 the house stood alongside several others in a beautiful lush meadow. But then overnight the Ulten Valley was visited by a huge storm and floods ripped everything away with them. Everything, that is, except for the little house, which by chance had been built on a huge rock and was therefore spared the violence of the flood.
